The People's Republic of China's 2006 Law on Enterprise Bankruptcy

China's new bankruptcy law became effective on June 1, 2007. This law represents China's effort to modernize its bankruptcy law and more closely align it to United States bankruptcy law and international business practices. The program discusses the key provisions of the new Enterprise Bankruptcy Law, its improvements over China's prior 1986 bankruptcy law, its similarities and differences with U.S. bankruptcy law, and upcoming challenges in implementing the new law.

Bruce S. Nathan is a member of the firm's Bankruptcy, Financial Reorganization & Creditors' Rights Group. Mr. Nathan concentrates on all aspects of creditors' rights and workouts in bankruptcy, out-of-court matters and other types of insolvency cases for secured creditors, creditors' committees, unsecured creditors, trustees and other creditors.

Mr. Nathan is a member of the board of directors of American Bankruptcy Institute and serves in the Commercial Financial Services Committee and Business Bankruptcy Committee of American Bar Association. Mr. Nathan has numerous professional publications related to credit risk management and bankruptcy. He also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of National Association of Credit Management and is a regular Contributor to Business Credit - National Association of Credit Management Magazine.

Mr. Nathan received his Bachelor degree from University of Rochester in 1976, got his M.B.A. from Wharton School of Finance and Business in 1980, and earned his law degree from University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1980.
